I'm using iAtkos v7 right now, installed without one problem using your guide (audio now works out of the box, it's 3:29 AM right now.) Thank you so much for your guide, even though it's a bit old.

O.k....... so i did some more reading and........ i don't think i'm willing to spend ridiculous amounts on a i7 with ddr3 ram.

So just a core 2 quad with a minimum of 8gb ram will do

Hey Greg,

Thanks for the tutorial.

I've got an inspiron 530 too. I'm thinking of "upgrading" it to a hackitosh, but i'm a little confused on the hardware front.

First, what mobo should i get that's compatible with hackintosh and supports a core i5, core i7 or at least a core 2 QUAD processor? (I've heard gigabyte has good one's)

Second, how much RAM is supported?(I'd like to get 8gb) and will the hackintosh detect and utilise all the RAM?

Third, if i get a quad core processor, will the hackintosh run with all 4 core's and is hyper-threading supported?

Fourth, will all the firewire and usb sots work? As i'm using an external firewire soundcard.

I'm really sorry if i come off sounding like a pushy noob but, i've looked for some time now and it seems like there are so many alternative methods. Just wanted to make sure i would get a rock solid system before i went ahead with it and invested time and effort.

I'm open to any hackintosh education you are willing to give me. Thanks

hey, please help me, I have a dell inspiron 530 also. First, i have no clue where to put the "drivers" (i couldn't find ExtraExtensions, in v5 or v7 of iATKOS iso). I need to put in the drivers for my ATI Radeon HD 3650 and the Intel SATA, if theres anything else i should put drivers in for, let me know please. Help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

It destroyed a perfect battery for me too. Mine is still working after a year. I too use usb for sound. The tsc sync never worked but it is as fast as a mac with only one core. What I like is how solid it is, and the flash never skipps or funks along. Ubuntu 9.04 is also very slick.

I am thinking about jailbreaking my iPhone, but I tried to hack my PSP once and screwed it up (bricked it because I did a step wrong), so I am a little nervous. Is there any potential for something to go wrong and I break my phone? What am I able to do once I jailbreak it?
